Nicholas Esterman

ASSOCIATE

A man in a suit and tie is smiling for the camera.

Nick Esterman helps businesses, organizations, and individuals prevent and resolve complex disputes by drawing on more than a decade of federal litigation and counseling experience.

Before joining Grogan Hesse & Uditsky, Nick served as Senior Counsel with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, where he argued cases in federal court, managed precedent-setting appeals, and advised agency leadership on high-stakes policy, regulatory, and litigation matters. His experience in both litigation and advisory roles enables him to guide clients through not only active disputes but also in assessing risk and preventing future conflicts. Nick combines courtroom advocacy with practical business insight to deliver efficient, results-driven solutions that minimize disruption and protect his clients’ interests.

Nick has taught legal writing and advocacy at Loyola University Chicago School of Law. He has also held several leadership positions in veteran-focused organizations, including on the Board of Directors of the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims Bar Association and as Chair of the Court’s Committee on Admission & Practice, where he oversees its attorney-discipline program.

Nick enjoys playing hockey, running, and spending time with his family in Chicago’s western suburbs. A former college hockey player and two-time marathoner, he brings the same discipline and competitive drive to his practice as he does to the rink and the road.
